Australia Diary 22 February 2002

My Aunty Gaby is here, all the way from the UK. So we did a bit of siteseeing.

If you only had a day in Sydney, you could do a lot worse than following our footsteps...

Start in Circular Quay. Walk east round the harbour to the Opera house, then through the Botanic Gardens to Mrs Macquarie's point where you can take a great picture of both the Harbour Bridge and the Opera House (see below). Head back to the Quay and take a ferry round to Darling Harbour where you can check out the Aquarium (top marks for the reef exhibit from my Aunt). Finish the day off by either walking back through town (or taking a taxi if you're feeling a bit tired like us!).

There are plenty of nice places to eat up and around The Rocks (just to the west of circular quay).

I haven't done it, but going on the Aussie duck looks like a great way of seeing the city (it's an amphibious bus).

One of the best ways to see Sydney is from a hotel room on the 17th floor of the ANA Harbourside Hotel...

To tomorrow
