From Scone, we drove back to the Upper Hunter Valley, through the Lower Hunter, before taking the scenic route back to Sydney.

The Upper Hunter valley is much less 'touristy' than the Lower Hunter Valley. The wineries are generally 'boutique' i.e. small which generaly means that they offer better prices for their wines than the large commercial wineries. I tried some excellent value wines in these places (Cruickshank do some great reds - especially a rose and a tawny port).
