Melaka (which bizzarely enough means 'w*nker' in Greek, although
I don't think that there's any connection...) is a little town on
the West coast of Malaysia, just south of Kuala Lumpur (or KL as
it is known). The guide book describes it as 'the most historically
interesting town in Malaysia'. So far I've seen the same profusion
of McDonalds and other brand names that I saw in Singapore, if slightly
lower here! The prices are the same numeric value and so therefore
lower with the exchange rate between the two countries. That is,
the dish that cost S$5 in Singapore would probably cost you RM5
here, but the Ringet is worth two and a half times less than the
Singapore doller. So I'm down the pub tonight for a well needed
beer (or two and a half!).
To tomorrow...
